Dr. Klovstad is an associate veterinary at Coldwater animal hospital. He is originally from Minneapolis Minnesota and graduated with his veterinary degree from St. Georges University in 2012. With a strong interest in surgery he has continued since graduation with extensive additional training in surgery across the country including a research and teaching fellowship in surgery at the University of Missouri. He lives with his two cats Penny and Sheldon and his Nova Scotia Duck Tolling retriever Vixen. When he is not at work he enjoys cooking, hiking with his dog and many other outdoor activities and Scuba diving.
Dr. Psutka graduated from St. George's University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2012. She attended the University of Minnesota for her fourth year clinical training and completed a small animal medicine and surgery internship at the University of Illinois. She began her career working emergency in Dallas and Denver before moving to Rochester in 2016 and transitioning to general practice. Her professional interests include soft tissue surgery and dentistry. Outside of work, she enjoys hiking, cooking, and competing in agility with her Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever named Vixen. She is owned by three cats named Sheldon, Penny, and Jango Katt.
Dr. Mafalda Carvalho is a new veterinarian with Coldwater Animal Hospital.
Dr. Carvalho received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Lisbon University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2000. She has a professional interest in preventive care and internal medicine.
Dr. Carvalho started caring for stray dogs and cats that roamed her hometown streets when she was just a child. Dr. Carvalho cherishes fostering the bond of affection parents create with their pets and works daily to provide the care they need to live longer, healthier and happier lives.
Dr. Carvalho was born in Portugal and moved to New York State recently. She shares her household with her teenage daughter Liliana and 2 dogs named Nina and Moro. Nina and Moro love to splash in any water they come across, but they have not tried icy water yet!
During her free time you can find Dr. Carvalho hiking with her dogs or rowing the Erie canal. Dr. Carvalho happily joined the Rochester Boat Club where the passion for rowing and teamwork blend together wonderfully!
Dr. Allison Cooperman is a new veterinarian with Coldwater Animal Hospital, but not new to the veterinary profession.
Dr. Cooperman entered veterinary medicine as a second career, having received her Master of Public Health degree in 1998 and working in NYC for 13 years before beginning vet school. She received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Cornell University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2009. She has a professional interest in client education, preventive care, and internal medicine.
Dr. Cooperman is originally from downstate NY, growing up on Long Island for 18 years and then living in NYC for another 15 years. After vet school, she settled in Rochester with her husband Paul, who is a born and bred Rochesterian. They have an 11-year-old son, Russell, 2 chihuahua mixes named Ernesto and Esmeralda, and a sassy old cat named Luna.
During her free time, you can find Dr. Cooperman spending time with her family, snuggling with her pets, and cooking vegetarian cuisine.
Erica is a Delaware native who moved to Rochester back in 2001. She has been a Licensed Veterinary Technician for 10 years, but has been working in the field with Coldwater Animal Hospital for the past 17 years. Erica has a special interest in anesthesia, as well as feline medicine and dentistry. Outside of the office, Erica is kept busy by her 6-year-old son who hopes to be a scientist and an entrepreneur when he grows up, as well as her senior cat named Bee. In her alone time, Erica enjoys health and fitness, going to the beach, and watching movies.
Lauren attended SUNY Canton and graduated with her Associate's Degree in Veterinary Technology in 2019 and obtained her Veterinary Technician License that same summer. She then worked as a licensed tech for a year and obtained her Bachelor's Degree in Veterinary Technology shortly before joining the Coldwater Team in June of 2020. Lauren has always loved animals and she is so excited to be on the Coldwater team, and continue her passion of caring for animals. Lauren shares her home with two dogs, Jack and Zoey, and her two cats, Jasper and Baxter.
Morgan graduated from Alfred State College with an Associates in Veterinary Technology in May 2022. In 2021, she received an Associates in Criminal Justice as well. Morgan recently joined the Coldwater team in June of 2022. She has always loved animals and is excited to continue to care for them on the Coldwater team. Outside of work, Morgan enjoys horseback riding and spending time with her Golden Retriever, Rebel and her Calico cat, Eliza.
Emily is a Licensed Veterinary Nurse and lifelong animal advocate. Outside of work, she enjoys spoiling her animals, experiencing the Rochester music scene, and spending as much time in her hammock as possible. Emily thanks all of you for allowing her to help take the best care of your pet as she can!
Barb attended SUNY Delhi and graduated with an Associates Degree in Veterinary Technology in May of 1999. As a native to the area she worked as an LVT for over 20 years in the Rochester community. She joined the Coldwater team in July of 2023. She has always loved animals and enjoys working with them. Outside of work she enjoys spending time with her husband Scott, son Jack, dog Otter and cat Joey. Her hobbies include trying new recipes and restaurants and catching up with friends and family. She is looking forward to continuing her career in this community.
Robin graduated from Medaille College in December 2021 earning a Bachelor's Degree in Veterinary Technology. Growing up she has always loved animals and by the end of high school wanted to become a Veterinary Technician. In May of 2024, Robin joined the Coldwater team to continue to learn and serve her community's furry friends. When she's not at work, Robin enjoys crocheting and watching the Bills game with her dog, Kali.
Ashley graduated from Medaille College in 2013 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Veterinary Technology, and passed her licensing exam in 2014. She joined the hospital back in 2016 and is excited to continue learning as part of the Coldwater team! Ashley has loved working with animals her entire life, and has had many pets herself including: cows, cats, dogs, fish, goats, sheep, rabbits and turkeys.
Kristen has been in the Veterinary field for 30 years. She loves working the front desk in order to meet new people and their pets. Kristen has a seven year old German Shepherd named Shade and an 11 year old cat named Zero. She partakes in fostering for Wayne County Humane Society & Wildlife rehab, as well as donating her time to a Pitty rescue, which she has been a part of for over 25 years. (She loves her Bully breeds!) In Kristen’s spare time she enjoys camping, fishing, and hiking. Any time in the outdoors she can be seen spending with Shade, usually on day trips all over NYS. Kristen also just started her own photography business this summer, specializing in animal portraits, abandoned buildings, and wildlife.
Shannon is new to the veterinary world but is already loving her new daily routine. Her favorite part of the day is greeting pets that pass by her desk, and chatting with the owners about their cats or dogs. When she is not at the office, Shannon can be found playing a board game or watching a movie with friends, or occasionally building Lego sets with her husband. When they buy their first home together, Shannon and her husband hope to adopt a dog or two to complete their family!
Chelsea is a highly motivated individual with a bachelor's degree in Criminal justice from Brockport university. She has recently joined the Coldwater team! Chelsea has honed her skills in the veterinary field through her experience at an emergency practice and a boarding facility. Chelsea has a strong commitment to animal care, Chelsea's loves Chihuahuas! When Chelsea is not working, She indulges in her passion for cosplay, travels the country to attend anime conventions.
Taylor graduated Morrisville State College in May of 2017 with an Associate's Degree in Equine Business and Management, and a Bachelor's Degree in Equine Rehabilitation. She has worked with animals her entire life and loves the atmosphere. Taylor has many pets herself including: two cats, a dog, a snake and a horse. When she is not working you can always find her at the barn!
Kim has been working at Coldwater since January 1995. As most of you know, she enjoy being at the front desk and chatting with clients about everything from their pets to their families. Kim is married and the mother to 5 children (with a 13 year age gap from the oldest to youngest!!). She has always loved animals as far back as she can recall, having grown up with cats, dogs, fish, and hamsters. Kim currently has six cats, two dogs and two fish. When she is not at work or running her youngest child around for her many activities, she enjoys being outdoors, reading, family time, and traveling with the family for summer vacations.
Emily has worked in vetmed for a little over 6.5 years. She is also a professional dog groomer part time. She has some experience in working with exotic pets as well. She enjoys relaxing and hanging with friends and family in her spare time. To keep herself in shape, she likes to play soccer. Although she loves both cats and dogs, she is a big cat lady!
Mya is a senior at Suny Brockport, majoring in Environmental science with a concentration in terrestrial and aquatic ecology, and dual minors in pre-professional health and biology. She grew up in Rochester and spent most of her childhood and teen years at the Seneca Park Zoo volunteering or working as a camp counselor. She has loved animals since she was a child and is passionate about animal care. She has two senior pitbulls Patch and Bella. Despite his age Patch is a bit of a wild child, and Bella is a cuddle bug who enjoys movie nights. Outside of work she enjoys painting and reading.
Savannah has worked with animals for a little over 7 years now. She has many years of experience in animal physical rehabilitation, assisting with laser treatment and underwater treadmill post operatively. She also has experience working in boarding and daycare. Her hope is to get her technician degree within the next couple of years. She has always loved working with animals and has a strong passion for animal care. Savannah currently resides on the east side with her boyfriend and three cats Thor, Elsa and Cannoli. When she is not at work she enjoys being outdoors, camping, hiking, reading and spending time with her friends and family.
Katrina graduated from SUNY Delhi's Veterinary Technician Program in January of 2023. Growing up she has had a passion wanting to help animals and be their voice ever since she was in high school. She joined the Coldwater Animal Hospital Family April of 2024 to gain more knowledge from doctors and grow into the best technician she can be. When not working her hobbies involve being with friends and family or just chilling watching a good show or movie and/or reading a good book with her Siberian Husky Mocha and her cat Latte.
